Columbia County, GA (WFXG) –

Cole Watkins is an expert on the Savannah River – he even grew up on it!

“Me and my friends have always been into the outdoors,” he says. “We always loved playing on the river.”

The ASU student was tasked two years ago, as part of a class, with creating a business. So, he chose to start his own kayaking tours.

“The assignment was to start a business from the ground up,” he explains. “We have the river right here in our backyard, and it’s something people don’t take advantage of.”

After a while, the business turned profitable, and he kept it going. Like any other cash-strapped college student, money was tight, so he turned those profits into a college fund. Dozens of tours later, he’s having fun, too.

“It’s something fun to do. It’s exercise. Everybody that comes out has a good time. As long as people are happy, and I’m making a little cash, I’ll be happy too.”

If you’re interested in one of Cole’s tours, visit his site on the web to book one!
